Living Sculpture
Day 1:
Introduction, Foraging, and Sculpture Building - discussion on the concept of "Living Sculpture" - Creating a unique sculpture that incorporates driftwood, succulents, and foraged natural materials.
Foraging Walk & Collection - head outside for a short walk to forage for additional materials, keeping in mind the overall design.
Sculpture Structure Building - introduction to simple techniques for attaching materials, such as using wire, twine, glue, and small nails.
Day 2:
Finalizing Sculptures & Enhancing Designs - focus on refining details, ensuring all succulents are securely placed and that the foraged materials are integrated in an aesthetically pleasing way.
Advanced Techniques for Detailing - learn how to integrate moss into the crevices of the driftwood, and how to nestle succulents in these areas for a more organic feel. Explore how to create small “micro-landscapes” within the sculptures using nuts, seeds, or lichen.
Finalizing Design - students will continue refining the sculptures and adding any final touches, such as small decorative items, additional moss, or color highlights to their sculptures.
Show & Tell + Closing Discussion - we’ll share the completed sculptures with the group, explaining the creative process, the materials used, and any challenges faced.
