Explore the wonderful world of weaving on a floor loom. Explore a variety of weaving techniques in your day 1 sampler, then learn how to thread a loom and spend the rest of the week weaving a set of towels, a scarf, or a scroll of art cloth of your choice.

Learn to make beautiful bowls on the wood lathe. During this hands-on immersive week we'll cover both green and dry wood, as well as multiple tools and cutting techniques, and learn to turn more than just bowls.

Working with materials grown or raised on our land on campus such as wool, natural dyes and other plants, we will explore the processes of dyeing, felting and basketry. Learning about the historical and environmental importance of these materials, come away with a set of hand dyed napkins, a felted bag, a basket, a week of memories, and a variety of new skills.

A magnificent and thorough foray into all the knitting skills and knowledge you'll need to get you through infinite Autumns & Winters knitting happily away. Hats, shawls, mittens, even sweaters or socks: all skills start here with the basics! Great for newbies, returners, or intermediate knitters who want to refine their skills. Instructor excels at helping learners write their own patterns and alter existing ones. Become immersed in the world of fibers, ply, twist, texture, and color!

Are you curious about timber framing but don't want to or have the time to build an entire house? This course will allow you to explore timber framing on a smaller scale. You can either design or work off a template to create a handwork joinery frame.

Learn to dye clothing and fabrics with low impact dyes with low-water immersion methods, then learn how to transfer your own embroidery ideas (fonts, plants, flowers, geometric/abstract designs) from the screen to amazing water-soluble sticker paper that disappears after you're done stitching. Both dyeing and embroidery will be taught. The result is incredibly unique upcycled garments or pieces of fabric art for your walls or quilt projects. End the week with everything you need to continue doing all parts of this work on your own for as long as it inspires you!

Catered to emerging and seasoned artists alike, this workshop will cover a broad range of fiber techniques, including sewing, appliqué, piecework, and beading. Guided by student interest and writing prompts, students will experiment with these techniques. While this workshop will focus on skill-building through samples, there will be one studio day for independent work.

Is your drawer full of stained shirts and jeans with the knees blown out? In this workshop, you will process old clothing into pulp and make paper. You will learn how to make a fabric book cover and you'll stitch together all the pieces into a unique book. Repurposing old clothes for paper and books pay homage to the Chinese paper inventors and keeps our clothes out of the landfill.
